Too Poor To Learn?

Education is the route out of poverty for many children. It gives them a chance to gain the knowledge and skills needed to improve their lives. But millions of children never see the inside of a classroom.

For many families the long-term benefits of sending their children to school are outweighed by the immediate need to send them to work or keep them at home to help with chores.

Children miss out on school because their families need them to earn money. But by sacrificing their education, they become trapped in a cycle of poverty.

Story

Most of the families at PPRT, rural areas, village and low cost houses, struggle to find money for sustaining their basic living costs, especially for their kids. They are what is famously referred to as the urban poor.

During the early school period, they can manage to buy only some parts of the required stationary so that their child can go to school.

Parents cannot afford to replace old and torn out school bags and although their child’s school uniform has faded, they still wear it because they cannot afford to buy a new one.

Children at times feel shy or even ashamed to go to school without the proper stationary when their friends around them do so. We should not let such small hurdles stop intelligent and ambitious leaders of tomorrow from getting their school education.

Donations to these campaigns will be able to ease the asnaf families’ burden to buy stationary for their children for school. As the parents will get help in getting the required stationary, they will also motivate and push their children to study and do well in school.

The Solution

Through your donations, GlobalSadaqah’s charity partner, Yayasan Ikhlas will help another 679 students around Kerinchi KL, Kapit district at Sarawak & Parit Buntar and a few places at Klang Valley.

Currently, Yayasan Ikhlas has funded 100 students at Johor Bahru, 80 students at Hulu Langat and another 300 students at Bangi.

The students will get:
1. School bag – RM 30
2. Stationary set – RM 20
3. Reference book – RM 20
4. School uniform – RM 30
5. Cash money – RM 100

Total each Asnaf kid gets approximately RM 200/pax. We aim to fund another 679 students soon InshaAllah.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “When a person dies his works end, except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him.” [Muslim]

At GlobalSadaqah our mission is to empower such people so that they go from becoming beneficiaries to benefactors themselves. This is the core of our mission to Circulate Good.

Even the smallest of donations count. Allah loves all those who give and help remove a difficulty of a fellow Muslim.

Allah mentions in Surah al-Baqarah:

مَّن ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا فَيُضَاعِفَهُ لَهُ أَضْعَافًا كَثِيرَةً وَاللَّهُ يَقْبِضُ وَيَبْسُطُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

“Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned.”
